{"id":9512,"date":"2018-06-27T10:47:39","date_gmt":"2018-06-27T16:47:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jasonbennion.com\/?p=9512"},"modified":"2018-06-27T10:47:39","modified_gmt":"2018-06-27T16:47:39","slug":"tough-times-for-truth-justice-and-the-american-way","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jasonbennion.com\/index.php\/2018\/06\/27\/tough-times-for-truth-justice-and-the-american-way\/","title":{"rendered":"Tough Times for Truth, Justice and the American Way"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve been thinking for a week or so that I need to write something that will capture my thoughts about where we are as a country right now and where we appear to be headed, but you know what? <em>Screw it.<\/em> My heart&#8217;s just not into rehashing the rage, frustration, fear, contempt, shame, and, most of all, <em>disappointment<\/em> I&#8217;ve been feeling toward the old US of A lately. Not to mention that there are likely people reading this right now, people I know, friends and family members, who have exactly the <em>opposite<\/em> opinion about what&#8217;s going on. Who are maybe even <em>elated<\/em> by the very same things I find so utterly repugnant. And that&#8217;s really&#8230; discouraging.<\/p>\n<p>I need some inspiration, some reassurance about the very <em>concept<\/em> of America. I need to look to one of my heroes, a symbol of everything that&#8217;s best about this country, the embodiment of our ideals and aspirations, a comforting mythical figure who&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbennion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/superman-drinks-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-9513\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbennion.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/06\/superman-drinks-1024x512.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"725\" height=\"363\" \/><\/a>Ah, shit. Doesn&#8217;t that just figure?<\/p>\n<p>Make sense, though.
