{"id":7587,"date":"2015-07-28T13:08:38","date_gmt":"2015-07-28T19:08:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jasonbennion.com\/?p=7587"},"modified":"2015-07-28T13:08:38","modified_gmt":"2015-07-28T19:08:38","slug":"yakety-max","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jasonbennion.com\/index.php\/2015\/07\/28\/yakety-max\/","title":{"rendered":"Yakety Max"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As my Loyal Readers no doubt recall, I <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbennion.com\/2015\/05\/review-mad-max-fury-road\/\">wasn&#8217;t overly keen<\/a> on <em>Mad Max Fury Road<\/em>, a position that put me at odds with many friends as well as much of the Internet in general<em>. <\/em>My biggest issue with the film &#8212; aside from my utter boredom with Tom Hardy in the title role &#8212; was that I found it too over the top compared to the (relative) plausibility of the original Max films starring Mel Gibson.<\/p>\n<p>However, every film buff knows that music has a tremendous influence over how an audience responds to the images on the screen. The marriage of the visual with the proper musical selection can raise a lump in your throat, coax the tears from your eyes, chill you to your core, or lift your heart all the way to heaven. A good film score can make the mundane soar&#8230; or the outrageous seem entirely natural. For example, witness how much better <em>Fury Road<\/em> would&#8217;ve worked with a, ahem, somewhat <em>different<\/em> soundtrack:<\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"725\" height=\"408\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6Iw8sfRQmV0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Tip of the chrome-studded leather hat to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heavymetal.com\/news\/mad-max-goes-benny-hill-with-yackety-max-video\/\">HeavyMetal.com<\/a>&#8230; yes,<em> that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbennion.com\/2008\/07\/its_your_oneway_ticket_to_midn\/\">Heavy Metal<\/a><\/em>, or at least the magazine it was based on, now living online like all the other detritus from my misspent youth&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As my Loyal Readers no doubt recall, I wasn&#8217;t overly keen on Mad Max Fury Road, a position that put me at odds with many friends as well as much of the Internet in general.
