{"id":2715,"date":"2012-12-06T21:41:55","date_gmt":"2012-12-06T21:41:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.jasonbennion.com\/?p=2715"},"modified":"2012-12-06T21:41:55","modified_gmt":"2012-12-06T21:41:55","slug":"an-interesting-coincidence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jasonbennion.com\/index.php\/2012\/12\/06\/an-interesting-coincidence\/","title":{"rendered":"An Interesting Coincidence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbennion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/hemingway_cuba_door-1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2495 aligncenter\" alt=\"hemingway_cuba_door\" src=\"http:\/\/www.jasonbennion.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/hemingway_cuba_door-199x300.jpg\" width=\"199\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>This morning before work, I was reading a year-old <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/culture\/features\/2011\/10\/hemingway-201110\"><em>Vanity Fair<\/em> article<\/a> about the discovery of a cache of Ernest Hemingway&#8217;s never-before-published correspondence in his old house in Cuba, which the Cuban government has maintained all these decades since his death as a virtual time capsule\/shrine\/museum. An interesting story, to be sure, but there was one odd little detail mentioned in passing about Papa&#8217;s house that caught my eye:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The connecting bathroom had a doctor&#8217;s scale, and on one of the walls, Hemingway had recorded his weight daily. It ranged from 242 pounds on February 21, 1955, to 190 1\/2 pounds five years later.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As it happens, those numbers are almost <i>identical <\/i>to my own weight readings over the past year.
