A couple weeks ago, there was a cute little cartoon<\/a> making the rounds titled “If My Childhood Plans Had Panned Out…” It easily lends itself to a fun mental exercise with several components to think about, so naturally somebody<\/a> turned it into an Internet meme. (Thanks, Michael May!)<\/p>\n

I chose to make my own responses to the questions raised in the form of photos, which I will place after the fold to save y’all some bandwidth. And for the record, I defined childhood for this thing as being between the ages of seven and 10, which for me would’ve covered the years 1976 through ’79. Click through if you’re curious…<\/p>\n

A black ’77 Pontiac Trans Am with the “screaming chicken” decal on the nose. Just like the Bandit’s.<\/p>\n

My home would be:<\/b><\/p>\n

A fancier version of the treehouse I already had.<\/p>\n

My best friend would be:<\/b><\/p>\n

Bugs Bunny. Hey, kid logic allows for ‘toons and humans to hang out.<\/p>\n

My backyard would have:<\/b><\/p>\n

\"disneyland-hook-ship\"<\/a><\/p>\n

How about a replica pirate ship with its own lake and piratey surroundings, yar?\u00a0 (Incidentally, that pic is of the long-gone Chicken of the Sea Pirate Ship Restaurant and Skull Rock, formerly prime attractions at Disneyland…)<\/p>\n

All my dinners would include:<\/b><\/p>\n

Crinkle-cut French fries and Hostess Ding Dongs (from back when they came wrapped in tin foil and had a generous amount of cream in the center and actually tasted good).<\/p>\n
