From Jaime J. Weinman&#8217;s blog <a href=\"http:\/\/zvbxrpl.blogspot.com\/\">&#8220;Something Old, Nothing New&#8221;<\/a>, I give you <b>The <i>Family Ties <\/i>Explanation<\/b>:<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><i><\/i><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><i>Asked to explain the Ohio results, all I could do was point to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tvtome.com\/FamilyTies\/\">Family Ties<\/a>, which was set in Columbus, Ohio. Therefore, the Ohio results went like this:<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Stephen: <\/i><\/b><i>Democrats<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Elyse: <\/i><\/b><i>Democrats<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Alex: <\/i><\/b><i>Republicans<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Mallory:<\/i><\/b><i> Didn&#8217;t want to vote, but she decided to go to the polls to meet a cute guy, and while she was there, she voted Republican because they were promising to lift restrictions on imports of foreign makeup<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Jennifer:<\/i><\/b><i> Democrats<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><i>Andrew<\/i><\/b><i> (who would by now be old enough to vote): Republicans<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>That makes it a 3-3 split. Who cast the tiebreaking vote? <b>NICK<\/b>. He went Republican at the last minute because Laura Bush said something nice about his art. When Stephen finds out, he chases Nick around the state with a baseball bat with a nail in it.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i>And <b>Skippy<\/b>? Skippy&#8217;s vote wasn&#8217;t counted. As if you had any doubt.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Good to know someone still has a sense of humor about this.
