As President Bush forges ahead with his second-term agenda, I hope someone will show him this pie-chart:

Hardly a sweeping mandate...
Posted by jason at November 5, 2004 11:45 AMI haven't read that it was a sweep.. a close call but still a win.. 51% think he is able and worthy to finish out another term..
Posted by: cheno at November 5, 2004 10:06 PMI didn't say anyone had called it a sweeping win. I said a sweeping mandate. There's a difference.
Mr. Bush won fair and square, and I'm not going to question that in any way. Obviously a slight majority of those who voted preferred him over my guy. Fine. But a lot of people are talking as if he won in a major landslide, and that an overwhelming majority of the country wants him to enact what amounts to a pretty radical agenda. That's untrue.
